7. POSTING, TRAINING, AND ADVANCEMENT
There are steps you can take to increase your income or post advancement within the company. Income, recognition and job satisfaction are rewards for someone who is in exchange, takes responsibility, and produces what is needed and wanted from the company. You can increase your chances of earning more income by steadily increasing your personal production and or by assuming more responsibility.
There are six separate levels of staff rank with corresponding higher levels of responsibility. The higher-level positions in the company have more responsibility attached to them and consequently, higher earning potential. Whenever possible, the company prefers to promote from within its current employee base. Some posts may require resume items that include but are not limited to degrees, licenses, certificates, job experience, training, academic excellence, etc. Still, we favor our own and whenever possible seek to offer advancement to those loyal to the company.
From time to time the Board of Directors or Executive Council (EC), as it deems necessary for the health of the company, may rearrange the structure of the organization by adding, combining, or eliminating company positions. During a 90 day probationary period and while employed, staff and their performance may be reviewed and evaluated to determine whether they will become a regular staff member. Employees are responsible for and will have their performance based on the post’s main production statistics, attendance, attitude and willingness. How can one increase his or her potential advancement in the Corporation? The answer lies in the “8 Keys” to success.
1. Find Out What is Needed and Wanted and Produce It
The overall success of the company is determined primarily by how successful each individual is on their post. As with other companies, staff will leave or stay and move up, down or laterally relative to one's position in the company. To stay on post and move up or laterally in position, simply understand and produce what is needed and wanted, have very high statistics, and ensure a complete “hat” is written for your current post. (A hat write up is a detailed manual of one’s post. Division 1 can provide the exact format for creating a hat write-up.)
2. Learn and Apply the HubbardⓇ Management Technology
As outlined in staff contracts and company policy, the company operates by utilizing L Ron Hubbard’s Management Technology. The Hubbard Management Technology involves principles of organization and its operation which include: handling of personnel, finance, promotion, production, planning and organization correction, and other things that relate to the expansion, control and administration of an organization. The company will coordinate initial post training and offer continuous training for those who desire. To properly function as a team member and improve chances of promotion, staff should consistently read, understand and apply the Hubbard Management Technology.
3. Be Upstat
As mentioned, production is measured by an individual’s statistics, a key factor used to judge performance. A rise in production or statistics will be important in becoming a permanent employee after the 90 day probation period as well as subsequent advancement in job responsibility and pay rate. Declining production or production that levels off over a long period of time may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, dismissal.
4. Understand the Industry
To understand your post is to understand the current state of our business industries. There is always something to learn in our industry as it changes more rapidly than the weather. There are periodicals, conventions, and plenty of other sources for the inquisitive mind.
5. Know the Company Organizing Board
The company Organizing Board, or Org Board, is one of the most important management tools and will guide you through the proper channels needed to help you be at cause over your post. It will show you the specific responsibilities of each post as well as the command channels involved for production. It’s a great tool to understand what each area is supposed to be producing and ensure you are producing what is needed.
6. Know and Enforce Company Policies
It is always easier to operate something with an owner’s manual, whether it is a large airplane or a simple electronic device. Consider the company’s collection of Policies and Directives to be our owner’s manual. They are available to you and you are expected to know and follow them, simply dispatch your manager or the Policy and Directives Officer in Department 2 to find out where they are located. A large part of knowing the company policies is enforcing them. We expect you to comply, enforce and follow policy whenever possible. This can range from dressing well for work to reporting another staff member's misbehavior or misapplication of policy.
7. Be an Ethics Upstat
You are expected to be professional and ethical while a staff member. You can receive as many merit and commendation reports as you desire. You can also receive negative reports for being “out-ethics” - the choice is yours.
8. Inform the Department of Personnel of Your Intentions to Move Up
Simply write a dispatch to the Department of Personnel outlining your intentions. You should include information on how long you have been at the company, your production record, past and current statistics, and why you believe you are eligible for advancement.
Training
The company invests enormous time and resources in the recruiting and training of its staff because the whole of the company survives based on the effectiveness of its employees. Advancement is never guaranteed, however, the company’s success is the cumulative success of its individual members. Produce in abundance and you will advance in the company. Contribute to the goals of the company and your professional goals can be realized. Helping the company expand is the key to personal expansion. To fail in any of these is to slow or stop your own advancement.
Most staff will receive additional on the job training through a basic apprenticeship period where they complete their full hat. This is different for each position. You will have completed the apprenticeship by accomplishing the following: study and apply all materials for the post, know your post as it relates to the company, know the post functions, lines, terminals and products, and produce the products as outlined in the post’s hat.
